Orleans para Yovanda Curtis wins LFT/PSRP scholarship

New Orleans paraprofessional Yovanda Curtis received a Louisiana Federation of Teachers PSRP Scholarship at the Federation's annual Paraprofessional and School Related Personnel Conference, held on April 1 at the Baton Rouge Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Curtis is a paraprofessional at McDonogh 35 High School. The $500 scholarship is awarded to school employees who are working to become certified teachers.

The annual PSRP Conference recognizes the contributions of school support staff. It includes professional development workshops, briefings on important legislative and educational issues, and awards to honor the achievements of members. This year’s conference was held in conjunction with the Federation’s winter leadership meeting, with a state budget preview from Revenue Secretary Kimberly Robinson.
